CBS Reporter Karina Mitchell Added to Exclusive Registry's Roster
Karina Mitchell has interviewed celebrities such as Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Angelina Jolie and covered international business news while working in Hong Kong
New York, NY, October 1, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Karina Mitchell, Reporter, Substitute Anchor and Producer for CBS has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in broadcasting.
Ms. Mitchell has over seven years of professional experience in broadcasting. At her current position, she is a fill-in anchor for CBS Mobile Newsbreaks, writing and producing newsblocks for the show. In addition she contributes health, consumer and business stories to CBS News online, as well as produces national news content for CBS Newspath. She also covers entertainment and fashion stories and has interviewed such eclectic names as Sir Anthony Hopkins, Dame Judy Dench, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry and Vera Wang, to name a few.
Prior to that, she was an anchor for "The Best Half," a morning talk and feature show that broadcast news, entertainment and feature stories relevant to second generation Asian Americans in the U.S. She has also covered local news, shooting, writing, editing and reporting stories for News 12 and LI News Tonight. Before that, she covered international business news while working in Hong Kong, where she was born and raised. Ms. Mitchell began her U.S. broadcast career as an intern on the highly acclaimed CBS "Sunday Morning" show.
Ms. Mitchell is widely traveled having attended schools in Hong Kong and England before settling in New York. Her international background and love of travel has led her to cover stories in diverse places such as Mumbai, Nigeria, Ghana and Hong Kong, where she still has family. She is a member of various international news organizations including the Asian American Journalists Association and the South Asian Journalist Association.
In 2004 she graduated summa cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College with a degree in International Studies and Economics and a minor in French. Ms. Mitchell attributes her success to hard work, dedication, the support of her late husband, Sunil Mahtani, a successful businessman, the encouragement of her husband, Russ Mitchell, an anchor with CBS News, her three children and especially to her father for sparking from the age of 5 her never-ending fascination with the world of politics and current affairs.
