ALEXANDRIA, VA, November 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mark G. Duff, Staff Engineer for Defense Media Activity, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Multimedia Broadcasting & Telecommunications. While inclusion in Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named the Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, and leadership abilities.
A 35-year veteran of military and government service, Mark G. Duff is best noted for his expertise in corporate telecommunications; broadcast engineering system design, satellite network operations, and product distribution. In 1994, he brought his talents to the American Forces Radio and Television Service, a government agency geared towards informing, educating and entertaining Department of Defense audiences worldwide through multimedia and broadcast products and services. As a staff engineer, Mr. Duff is tasked with performing a wide range of important duties. This includes managing international broadcasting systems such as satellite network operations and telecommunications systems design, and overseeing the distribution of broadcast products to 177 countries.
Mr. Duff began his career with the United States Air Force in 1977. From then until 1981, he was deployed to remote locations in the Middle East and around the world, acquiring the knowledge that he needed to function as maintenance and logistics chief from 1981 to 1993. He eventually transferred to the American Forces Radio and Television Service, where he served as the chief telecommunications manager. Over the course of his long career in the USAF, Mr. Duff also held the positions of Chief of Maintenance resource manager, logistics manager, and supply and contingency support manager. He is deeply grateful for the opportunities for advancement that the Department of Defense and the U.S. military had presented to him, which have enabled him to provide integral support to major telecommunications and broadcast systems around the world.
Highly trained in engineering policies and procedures, Mr. Duff is a certified broadcast networking technologist and a certified professional broadcast engineer. Additional qualifications and coursework include a United States Office of Personnel Management, Management Development Team Building and Team Leadership Seminars, NAB Satellite Uplink Operators Training Certificate, Avid 201-Advanced Techniques for the Media Composer System, Avid System Manager Courses, Cisco Power-Vu Connect Operations and Maintenance, Vid-Cad Draftsman, and Fiber Optic Termination and Testing.
Mr. Duff is a member of The Society of Broadcast Engineers and the National Association of Broadcasters. Honors of which he is a recipient include a Distinguished Public Service Award, an Outstanding Accomplishment Award in Scientific and Technical Achievement, several Quality Step Increase Awards, multiple Sustained Superior Performance Awards from the United States Air Force, an Outstanding Electronics Civilian Manager of the Year award, and an Air Combat Camera TQM Team Award. As he moves forward in his career, Mr. Duff aspires to become the chief engineer of a major facility.
