New York Lawyers at The Perecman Firm Deliver New York's 4th Largest Workplace Accident Verdict for 2010
$5,003, 802 verdict sends clear message on the importance of proper equipment after worker breaks leg in fall from insufficient ladder.

NEW YORK, NY, August 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The recently released Verdict Search's Top NY Verdicts of 2010 reports that New York personal injury lawyer David Perecman secured the 4th largest New York workplace accident verdict of 2010 with his winning of a case against Cablevision Systems Corporation & Cablevision Systems New York City Corporation CSC Holdings Inc., tried in Queens Supreme Court.

"The $5 million verdict* forces Cablevision and other companies to seriously examine their safety standards and equipment," said Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York's personal injury law firms.

The Plaintiff, a 32-year old installer of cable-television systems, was injured after plummeting 12 feet from an extension ladder outside a residence in Brooklyn. Perecman argued that the workplace ladder fall stemmed from improper safeguarding and from the lack of safe equipment. Allegedly, the ladder in the workplace accident was being used as a standalone ladder despite its lack of footings.

The jury heard how the Plaintiff now has difficulty walking and requires a cane. They also heard how he can no longer work in his prior occupation, or any occupation that required prolonged standing, walking, climbing, or strenuous physical activity.

Each year, more than 500,000 people in the U.S. are treated for ladder related injuries, and that number does not include people who suffered ladder fall injuries but did not go to a medical care provider for treatment.

"Employers need to be concerned about workplace ladder accident dangers in New York," personal injury lawyer Perecman said. "Providing workers with proper work equipment is necessary to minimize workplace accidents like ladder falls and to achieve compliance with New York State Labor Law."

Soba sought recovery of his past and future medical expenses, his past and future lost earnings, and damages for his past and future pain and suffering.
